About Us

Haydons Dance academy began as The Sharon Haydon School of Dancing on 13th November 1976 - the classes were held in the Co-operative hall in Spring Gardens Doncaster Town Centre.

Classes eventually moved from there to The Bulls Head public house and to Wentworth Hall on Becket Road.
In 1981 the school moved to Barnby Dun in the Church Hall where it still holds its classes today.

In the nineties the name of the school was changed to The Footloose Theatre Dance Academy.

The emphasis has always been on family values and a caring environment. The school enables the children to dance once or twice per week with the option of more classes for the students wanting to attend and further their dance training.

There have been many students that have gone on to professional contracts both home and abroad and many local dance teachers have started their training here and now run successful schools of their own.

In 2008 Miss Sophie joined her mum as a fully qualified teacher of Dance within the School. Between the two of them the school has grown and flourished ensuring there is an annual show and at least one (sometimes two) exams sessions per year.

The school is often asked to do displays at local garden fetes, parties, in Marks and Spencer at Meadow Hall and for Fostercare Barnsley.

April 2014 saw the school name return to the Family name and Haydons Dance Academy became its new name.
Our staff are CRB checked and we offer a safe and family orientated school for anyone wanting to join us. Most importantly our staff have FULL qualifications - so your child is taught correctly therefore they will be safe and taught correct techniques - would you send your child to their educational school if the staff didn’t have a teaching qualification??
